The following is the resignation letter （n.辭職書）from Steve Jobs to the Apple board（n.董事會(huì)）:

CUPERTINO（n.美國地名，古柏蒂奴，蘋果公司總部所在地）, Calif.–August 24, 2011–To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know.

Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession（n.繼任） plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

喬布斯致蘋果董事會(huì)的信函如下：

我一直都在強(qiáng)調(diào)，如果有一天，我無法再履行身為蘋果 CEO 的職責(zé)的話，我會(huì)第一時(shí)間讓你們知道。

很不幸，這一天到來了。

在這里，我提出辭呈，從蘋果 CEO 的職位上退下。如果董事會(huì)、高層、以及蘋果員工認(rèn)可的話，我愿意擔(dān)任董事會(huì)主席，繼續(xù)為蘋果服務(wù)。

至于繼任者，我強(qiáng)烈建議繼續(xù)執(zhí)行當(dāng)前的成功計(jì)劃，并提名 Tim Cook 成為蘋果的新任 CEO。

我相信在他的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下，蘋果的未來將會(huì)更加光明，更有創(chuàng)新能力。我也期待著在新的崗位上見證，并為蘋果的成功添磚加瓦。

在蘋果，我結(jié)識(shí)了很多人生摯友，感謝你們這么多年以來的陪伴。
